The congress included a daily bulletin edited by Will Jenner-O'Shea that are worth reading. They include an interesting series of articles on Redoubles and discussion of hands played by winning pairs and teams that day.

For the last bulletin, board 22 was discussed by both Sandy and Nerida and Bronwyn and Simon.

Will (and PBC Bridge Ed) approve of opening 1C because of East's shape and rebid problem (East can show strength later).  Good bidding by South but East should not allow South to play in 2D with 19HCP, a singleton D and only 4 losers.  +4 IMPs for NS.

No pair in intermediate found game! (in Open, 13 of 34 pairs bid 4S, one not making.  Another bid 5S.)

This was an excellent board for EW, +11 IMPs, despite West being an 11 loser hand. Only 3 pairs bid 4S and one didn't make it. "Bid the vulnerable game" at IMPs! This is the sort of result that wins a match.

One pair were in 5DX for -10 IMPs. Knowing when to sacrifice is never easy!  Actually, a 2C opening would probably help deter a sacrifice?
