Nearly 30 members attended the 4 day Central West Festival and had an enjoyable and successful time. Congratulations to everyone but especially to Sandy Carter and Nerida Gillies, Susan Jensen, Lidy Seysener, Bronwyn Neal and Simon Hunter, Trish Berry and John Simmonds and Vibeke Faurby and Mandy MacDonald who did exceptionally well.
Everyone earned gold points. We played 193 boards over three and a half days. Bookings for next year open on 1 Oct.
In the Swiss Teams on Thursday and Friday, Susan, Lidy, Bronwyn and Simon won the Restricted (U300MPs) division. Lidy and Susan had the best pair datum score of the whole field.
In the Swiss Pairs on the weekend:
Sandy and Nerida won the Intermediate section (U750MPs) - by a big margin.
Trish and John came second in the Intermediate section.
Bronwyn and Simon were on fire as they also won the Restricted division (after a slow start).
Vibeke and Mandy came a very creditable 4th in the Novice division and 7th overall out of 62 pairs in the combined Restricted and Novice field. Half the pairs in the top 10 were novices which should be encouraging for newer players.
We also found time to enjoy some of the excellent restaurants (Mandy and Vibeke are on the left).
