Members may be interested to know that Warriewood Square is changing its approach to parking, introducing 2 and 3 hour time limits to most of its parking.

The club celebrated Betty Bevins' birthday on Monday 15 April. Flowers accompanied a tribute by the President.
Betty has been a stalwart member of the club for many years - and it was great to see the well wishes of the other Monday players.

As a club we try to help members who find themselves at a session unexpectedly without a partner - due to some last minute problem of their partner or due to a partnership communication failure!
For the last 12 months we have relied on fill-in volunteers who are happy to be called to see if they are free to come in and play. We would like to reward these volunteers and attract more to join their ranks - so that this service will work even more reliably than it does now.
So from Fri 10 May we will not only offer the fill-in volunteer a free game when they come in, but also a free game voucher to use later.
I hope you have Monday 6 May in your diaries and are coming along to Bridge for Brains, an Australia-wide ABF-organised charity event. The proceeds go to Neuroscience Research Australia (NeuRA) - an independent, not-for-profit research institute based in Sydney, Australia, aiming to prevent, treat and cure brain and nervous system diseases, disorders and injuries through medical research.
Premises Update
In April, members of the Committee and the Premises Working Group met with Council representatives regarding the initial community consultation on the Warriewood Valley Community Centre.

I am pleased to announce the start of a new Honour Board pairs competition, the Cath Whiddon Cup, for our many "super novice" players. In 2019 this will be restricted to players with less than 15MP as at end March, but this level might vary in future years.
Entrants will play as a pair over three Mondays 20 and 27 May and 3 June. Check the event details.
In announcing this competition the Committee and Tournament Sub-Committee are responding to the fact that more than one third of Peninsula’s members have less than 15MP.

For the three months to end March Peninsula's highest masterpoint earner was Robin Ho on 35.04 ahead of Alexander Cook on 34.2 and Vivien Eldridge on 33.94.

Update - on Friday 12 Apr 2019 we had a new record 34.5 tables in play - see the photo. It would have been 35 tables but we had to send one of our five unpartnered players home when no fill-in player could be found.
Without any fanfare or expectation, the club broke its record number of tables in play for a standard session on Friday 1 February 2019 with 34 tables. This broke the previous record of 33.5 on a Wednesday in March 2018 and 33 on a Friday in February 2018.
