Teams - a terrific alternative to pairs. Special introduction and practice lesson on playing Teams on Thusday 27 October 10-12 at the Club.
This is intended to introduce players to Teams events and encourage them to play in the forthcoming Club Teams Championship, the Interclub Teams event and future club Teams events.
The Club is subsidising this special workshop so cost is 1PPV (members only). Limited spaces; preference given to members playing in the Interclub Teams or Club Championship Team Competitions. Pre-registration in the session booking sheet by Tuesday 25th is essential. You don't need to book as a team! - sign up as individuals.
The approach to teams and the scoring is very different to pairs.
Cath Whiddon will provide examples on the following team tactics:
- THE PART SCORE BATTLE
- GAME CONTRACTS
- BIDDING SLAMS
- PENALTY DOUBLES
- SACRIFICING
Then we will move to an opponents’ table to play 6-8 boards to practice those tactics and return to our teammates to score up.
Time permitting, we will look at the hands played to review team tactics. Notes on the hands and tactics will be provided.
This article explains a lot about Imps and it would be useful to read it even though it is in the context of BBO.
